About SACR

The Swedish Association for Cytoskeletal Research (SACR) is an organization for scientists working in Sweden on the cytoskeleton in broadest sense, e.g. cell signalling, adhesion and motility. A major objective of SACR is to facilitate contacts between young scientists and research students no matter whether they have an academic or industrial affiliation.

SACR was founded in 1994 by Lars Backman, Umeå University and Roger Karlsson, Stockholm University, and serves as a national platform for the European Cytoskeletal Forum (ECF).

Over the years SACR has organized a series of week-end symposia: Kristineberg Marine Biology Station in September 1994; Vårdnäs, Linköping, September 1996; Kristineberg Marine Biology Station, October 1998; Solbacka, Stockholm, September 2000 and Gimo Herrgård, September 2002 and June 2006, Gimo; and Djurö conference center, June 2008 and 2010 (see meetings for details). These symposia have attracted an increasing number of persons, both from Sweden and other Nordic countries.

The symposia have been characterized by an informal and informative atmosphere much appreciated by the participants.
